NextEra Energy and Brookfield have announced a partnership to build a major $100 billion data center campus in Paducah, Kentucky. This project is designed to meet the growing need for high-performance AI infrastructure in the United States. The campus will be built on a former uranium enrichment site managed by the U.S. Department of Energy, repurposing industrial land from the 1950s for modern technology needs.

Energy Capacity and Infrastructure

NextEra Energy, as a leading utility provider, will play a central role in the energy requirements of this facility. The plan includes supplying 2 gigawatts of power from natural gas sources alongside 2.6 GW of battery storage capacity. For context, 1 gigawatt can support approximately 750,000 homes, highlighting the massive energy demand required for large-scale AI operations.
