NBCC, Infosys, Zee Secure Key Deals: Market Roundup (August 6)

NBCC won a ₹780 crore RBI contract, and Infosys expanded its AI-led partnership with Metsä Group. Zee Entertainment secured exclusive broadcast rights for Serie A football. Additionally, Oil India received relief in a major tax dispute, while several other companies announced new orders and partnerships. These updates highlight ongoing business momentum across infrastructure, technology, and media sectors.

A range of major companies announced significant business developments today, covering sectors from infrastructure to technology and media. Investors are keeping a close watch on these updates as they reflect the operational growth and strategic direction of these firms.

State-owned construction firm NBCC (India) Limited has secured a substantial project management contract worth ₹780.38 crore from the Reserve Bank of India. The project involves constructing an office complex and staff quarters in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. Including other recent wins, the company’s total new order inflows have reached approximately ₹801.20 crore. For investors, large project wins are a key indicator of future revenue visibility, though the pace of execution and the ability to manage project costs in a competitive infrastructure sector remain crucial.

In the technology sector, Infosys has expanded its multi-year partnership with Metsä Group. The deal focuses on modernizing IT infrastructure and utilizing Infosys Topaz, the company’s AI-focused solution suite, to enhance operational efficiency. This collaboration underscores the continued trend of global enterprises seeking AI-driven digital transformation, which supports the long-term growth outlook for major Indian IT services providers.

Zee Entertainment has acquired the exclusive broadcast and digital rights for Italy's Serie A football league, along with the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, for the next five years. The content will be available on Zee5 and Unite8 Sports starting August 22, 2026. While content acquisition is vital for subscriber growth in the streaming business, investors should remain aware that the company continues to face broader regulatory and governance scrutiny, including ongoing investigations by market regulators.

In the energy sector, Oil India has received positive news regarding a tax dispute. The Assam government has signaled its intent to withdraw a disputed land tax demand of approximately ₹2,484.81 crore. However, a separate and significant legal matter—the GST on royalty payments—remains sub-judice in the Supreme Court. The company has been directed to make interim deposits, highlighting that legal and regulatory risks still linger for the firm.

Several other companies also reported operational updates. Gland Pharma and Neuland Laboratories have formed a long-term partnership for the production of sterile Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), combining their respective manufacturing and development expertise. Meanwhile, RMC Switchgears reported order inflows totaling ₹344.10 crore, led by a large contract from a state utility company. Additionally, Monarch Surveyors finalized an overseas acquisition in Australia, aiming to expand its reach in global government procurement markets.

As these developments unfold, market participants will focus on the execution timelines for the new orders and whether the strategic partnerships translate into improved profit margins. For companies like Zee Entertainment and Oil India, the resolution of regulatory and legal issues remains the most important factor for investors to monitor in the coming quarters.
