Mohalla Tech Revenue Jumps 40%, Eyes First Profitable Year

Mohalla Tech reported a 40% revenue increase to ₹1,016 crore in FY26, driven by its micro-drama content business. While adjusted EBITDA losses narrowed significantly, net losses widened due to accounting expenses. The company has turned EBITDA-positive in early FY27 and is planning a potential IPO in late 2027.

Mohalla Tech, the parent entity behind social media and entertainment platforms ShareChat, Moj, and QuickTV, is currently undergoing a structural shift toward profitability. For the fiscal year 2026, the company reported an operating revenue of ₹1,016 crore, marking a 40% growth compared to the previous year. This revenue surge highlights the firm’s pivot toward aggressive monetization, moving away from a model heavily dependent on external capital toward one focused on internal cash generation.

Financials and the Path to Profitability

Investors analyzing the company's financial health should distinguish between different profitability metrics. While the company made significant progress in reducing its operational burn, with adjusted EBITDA losses dropping 58% to ₹91 crore in FY26, its net loss before tax widened to ₹1,978 crore. This difference is primarily due to non-cash accounting charges, including expenses related to employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and foreign exchange adjustments, rather than a decline in core operational performance. The company reported that it achieved EBITDA positivity in the first half of FY27 and is targeting its first full-year profit by the end of the current fiscal year, with an estimated EBITDA of nearly ₹25 crore.

Growth Drivers in Micro-Drama Content

The company’s recent success is heavily linked to the rapid adoption of its micro-drama offerings. Through the QuickTV and Moj+ platforms, this short-format, episodic content generated ₹293 crore in revenue in its first full year. Daily viewership across these platforms has scaled to over one billion views, creating a large inventory of advertising slots. By diversifying into subscription-based viewing models alongside its traditional ad-supported business, Mohalla Tech is managing to attract premium advertisers who previously preferred established over-the-top streaming platforms.

Unlisted Status and IPO Timeline

It is important for market participants to note that Mohalla Tech is a private, unlisted company. As such, it does not trade on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), and there is no public share price available. The company has indicated plans for a potential initial public offering (IPO) in late 2027. Moving forward, the key monitorables for potential investors and stakeholders will be the sustainability of the micro-drama revenue model, the ability of management to convert operational EBITDA improvements into bottom-line net profit, and how the company navigates the competitive digital entertainment market as it prepares for its transition to public markets.
