Meesho Shares Rise 6% on Content Growth and MSCI Hopes

Meesho shares climbed 6% on Tuesday, trading near Rs 236–239, driven by a 152% surge in creator-led commerce value and market anticipation regarding potential MSCI index inclusion. Investors are now focused on whether this creator-led strategy will lead to sustained profitability in the highly competitive e-commerce sector.

Meesho Ltd. shares saw a strong uptick on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, climbing 6% to trade within the Rs 236–239 range on the National Stock Exchange. The rally is supported by two distinct factors: strong operational growth in its content-led sales model and market buzz surrounding potential inclusion in the MSCI index.

The company’s latest business update revealed a 152% year-on-year surge in Net Merchandise Value (NMV) through its creator-led commerce platform. By utilizing a network of over 1.6 lakh active creators, Meesho has effectively deepened its penetration into Tier 3 and Tier 4 regions. These creators, often homemakers and young graduates, provide video demonstrations that help shoppers in smaller towns assess product quality before buying. For investors, this model is significant because it aims to lower customer acquisition costs—a major expense for e-commerce platforms—by leveraging organic social influence rather than relying solely on paid advertisements.

Beyond the operational metrics, investor sentiment has been bolstered by reports of potential inclusion in the MSCI index. If confirmed, such an inclusion typically leads to inflows from global passive funds, which can provide a structural boost to a stock's liquidity and valuation. Since listing in December 2025, the company has actively worked to improve its market standing, and brokerage commentary has recently turned more optimistic regarding the firm's path toward profitable growth.

However, the company operates in a crowded e-commerce landscape where competition for market share remains intense. While the content-led growth is positive, Meesho has historically reported losses and negative return on equity in previous financial cycles. The challenge for the management will be to ensure that this rapid expansion in gross value translates into sustainable profit margins rather than just high revenue growth. Execution risk remains a monitorable factor, as the platform must maintain the quality and engagement of its large creator network to keep customer interest high in non-metro markets.

The next major triggers for the stock will be any official confirmation regarding the MSCI index updates and the company's upcoming quarterly financial results. Investors will be looking closely at whether the management can continue to scale its creator ecosystem while narrowing the gap between its current losses and eventual profitability.
