L&T Technology Services reported a 67% rise in Q2 net profit to ₹548.2 crore, largely helped by a one-time gain from selling its Smart World and Communication unit. Revenue grew 12.1% to ₹3,040.4 crore, supported by large AI-focused contract wins. The company also announced an interim dividend of ₹20 per share, reflecting its ongoing cash flow health.
L&T Technology Services (LTTS) reported a consolidated net profit of ₹548.2 crore for the second quarter of the current fiscal year. This 67% jump from the ₹328.7 crore profit recorded during the same period last year was significantly influenced by a one-time post-tax gain of ₹165 crore. This gain resulted from the divestment of the company's Smart World and Communication unit to AMI Paradigm Solutions Private Ltd, a deal that officially closed on September 1.
Investors looking at these numbers should distinguish between the reported profit and operational performance. While the divestment has helped the balance sheet, the company's core operational revenue grew by 12.1% to ₹3,040.4 crore compared to the previous year. This revenue increase was supported by the transition of several large deals into the execution phase. During the quarter, the company secured a total contract value (TCV) exceeding $200 million, with projects focused on artificial intelligence accounting for more than half of this volume.
The firm's focus on its 'Engineering Intelligence' strategy appears to be a key driver for this deal flow. To further strengthen its position in this space, LTTS recently launched an Engineering Intelligence Lab in Bengaluru in collaboration with NVIDIA. This facility is intended to help clients simulate virtual product designs and demonstrate industrial robotics and autonomous manufacturing. Alongside these developments, the company declared an interim dividend of ₹20 per share, signaling management’s confidence in the company's cash position.
Looking toward the future, the management has stated a goal of achieving a 13-15% annual revenue growth rate and maintaining operating profit margins between 16% and 17% over the next five years. As the company moves ahead, the main focus for investors will be the sustainability of these growth rates without the support of one-time divestment gains. The ability of the company to execute these large, complex AI-driven contracts on time and within cost estimates will be a key monitorable in the coming quarters. Maintaining consistent margins while scaling these newer technology initiatives will also remain a critical factor for the company's performance.
