Ahmedabad-based startup KuhlTherm has secured $1.1 million in seed funding led by Arkam Ventures. The company will use the capital to scale its liquid-cooling technology for high-density AI data centers. This investment targets the growing need for efficient alternatives to traditional air cooling as AI infrastructure demands higher computing power.

KuhlTherm, an Ahmedabad-based hardware startup, has successfully raised $1.1 million in a seed funding round led by Arkam Ventures. The company focuses on liquid-cooling systems designed specifically for data centers, a segment increasingly vital as artificial intelligence and high-density computing generate significant heat loads.

Strategic Use of Capital

The company plans to use the new funds to boost its product development and strengthen its research and testing infrastructure. A portion of the capital is earmarked for expanding its engineering and business teams, which is essential as the company aims to move toward commercializing its cooling solutions. In addition to technical development, KuhlTherm intends to pursue industry certifications and establish strategic partnerships, which are necessary steps for supplying cooling technology to large hyperscale data centers.

Transitioning from Air to Liquid Cooling

Traditional data centers have long relied on air cooling to manage server temperatures. However, as modern AI chips and server racks process more data, they require significantly more power and generate heat levels that air-based systems struggle to manage. KuhlTherm’s technology addresses this by providing precision cooling directly at the chip and rack level.

The startup’s product range includes direct-to-chip cooling, immersion cooling, and coolant distribution units. To support these hardware offerings, the company has developed a software platform called NexusFlow OS, which allows data center operators to monitor and manage their cooling infrastructure in real-time.

Market Context and Future Growth

The shift toward liquid cooling is part of a broader global trend as businesses invest heavily in AI infrastructure.
