Kolkata-Based Utsav Raises ₹36 Crore Series A Funding

Spiritual services platform Utsav has secured ₹36 crore in Series A funding led by Atomic Capital. The company plans to scale its temple network and technology infrastructure to handle growing demand for services like puja bookings and prasad delivery. As a private startup, Utsav operates in the competitive digital devotional space alongside several other specialized players.

Kolkata-based devotional platform Utsav has raised ₹36 crore in a Series A funding round, according to company announcements made on August 25, 2026. The funding was led by Atomic Capital, with continued support from existing investors India Quotient and Equanimity Investments. The startup, founded in 2021, focuses on connecting devotees with temple services, including remote puja bookings, prasad delivery, and priest consultations.

Scaling Operations and Technology

Utsav intends to deploy the fresh capital to expand its network of temple partners and improve its digital infrastructure. The company reported that it currently fulfills approximately 2.5 lakh orders per month and has seen an eightfold increase in revenue since its previous funding round in February 2025. By enhancing its fulfillment operations and technology, the startup aims to improve service personalization for its user base, which includes the Indian diaspora living abroad.

The 'Devotional-Tech' Landscape

Utsav is a private, unlisted company and does not trade on the stock exchanges. Its business model places it within the growing, yet competitive, 'religion-tech' or 'devotional-tech' sector in India. This space has attracted various startups and digital platforms in recent years, as technology firms look to organize the largely unorganized market for religious services. Utsav faces competition from several other players in this domain, including Vama.app, AppsForBharat, Astrotalk, and DevDham, each vying for market share by offering digital access to spiritual rituals.

Operational and Sector Risks

For an unlisted startup in this sector, success depends heavily on execution. Expanding a network of temples requires managing logistics across diverse geographies, which can lead to operational bottlenecks if not scaled carefully. Furthermore, maintaining the authenticity and trust of these services is critical; any perceived gap in fulfilling rituals or delivering offerings can directly impact user trust and platform retention. As the sector grows, companies also face the inherent challenge of navigating cultural and religious sensitivities, which requires maintaining high standards of transparency and service quality at every step of the fulfillment process.

Moving forward, the primary monitorables for the company will be its ability to maintain growth momentum while managing the rising competition and operational costs. Investors and industry observers will track how the company utilizes its expanded network to sustain its monthly order volume and whether it can effectively differentiate its services in a crowded market.
