KPIT Technologies Profit Drops 28% in September Quarter

KPIT Technologies reported a 28% profit decline to ₹120.61 crore in the September 2026 quarter, impacted by investment valuation adjustments. While revenue grew 6.5% to ₹1,690.96 crore, the 13% drop in revenue from its top two clients remains a key monitorable.

KPIT Technologies reported a profit of ₹120.61 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, which is a 28% decline compared to the same period last year. Despite the lower bottom line, the company’s total revenue grew by 6.5% year-over-year to reach ₹1,690.96 crore, showing sustained demand in its core business areas.

The decline in profit was largely attributed to adjustments in the fair market value of the company's investments rather than a direct hit to its core operating performance. These non-operating adjustments impacted the net profit figures, causing the notable year-over-year variance.

Client Concentration Risk

A critical area for investors to track is the company's client concentration. KPIT saw a 13% decline in revenue from its top two accounts during this quarter. This highlights the sensitivity of the company’s revenue to its largest clients, a common characteristic in the automotive software and engineering services sector. While the firm is working to mitigate this by diversifying its client base, the volatility in these major accounts remains a factor that influences short-term performance.

Segment Performance and Strategic Focus

Performance was buoyed by strength in the Truck and Off-Highway segments, which helped offset the decline in top-tier accounts. The company also reported positive traction in its Connected and Aftersales service domains. Management is banking on its 'Beacon' mobility intelligence product and AI-led service offerings to deepen client engagement as automotive companies continue to prioritize digital transformation and software-defined vehicle architectures.

Looking ahead, the company is focused on converting its $213 million total contract value (TCV) pipeline into executed programs. With a total headcount of 12,347 employees, leadership is prioritizing delivery predictability and the integration of Caresoft, which is expected to bolster capabilities in vehicle engineering and manufacturing consulting. For investors, the key monitorable will be the stability of these largest client accounts and how effectively the firm manages its pipeline conversion to improve profit margins in the coming quarters.
