Info Edge India is buying the remaining 45.36% stake in Coding Ninjas to make it a fully-owned subsidiary. The company plans to integrate the edtech firm with its existing businesses, including Naukri.com, while expanding into AI-focused courses.
Info Edge India, the operator of the job portal Naukri.com, has announced an agreement to purchase the remaining 45.36% stake in the edtech startup Coding Ninjas. The transaction, valued at approximately ₹39.91 crore, will transform the platform into a wholly-owned subsidiary of Info Edge. This follows an earlier investment in 2022 that had already granted the company majority control over the startup.
Transaction Details and Payment Schedule
Under the terms of the agreement, Info Edge will acquire 74,741 equity shares from the founders of Coding Ninjas, which operates under the name Sunrise Mentors Private Limited. The payment structure is spread over several years: an initial 25% amounting to ₹9.98 crore will be paid at the closing of the deal. The remaining balance of ₹29.93 crore is scheduled to be paid in three equal annual installments on March 31 of 2027, 2028, and 2029. The deal is expected to close within the next 45 days.
Financial Performance of Coding Ninjas
Coding Ninjas has seen steady revenue growth, with its turnover rising to ₹97.43 crore in FY26, up from ₹67.15 crore in FY25 and ₹53.31 crore in FY24. Despite this top-line expansion, the company has faced profitability challenges, reporting a loss of ₹13.36 crore for the financial year ending March 2026. Furthermore, its net worth was recorded as negative ₹34.98 crore as of March 31, 2026. For Info Edge, the goal is to improve these metrics by integrating the startup’s technology and educational content into its wider ecosystem, specifically by introducing AI-related courses to its user base.
Strategic Investments and Future Monitoring
Beyond this acquisition, Info Edge continues to actively deploy capital into the tech ecosystem. The company’s board has recently approved an additional commitment of up to ₹180 crore to the B8 Fund I, adding to an earlier commitment of ₹250 crore made in February 2026. These investments are part of a broader strategy to gain long-term value from growth-stage technology firms in India.
Investors may monitor how effectively the founders of Coding Ninjas, who will now be integrated into Info Edge as employees, contribute to the firm's growth. The key monitorable for the coming years will be the improvement in the subsidiary’s financial health and its ability to turn profitable while scaling its AI-focused course offerings.
