Info Edge Shares Rise 2% As Q1 Profit Jumps 43% YoY

Info Edge (India) shares climbed 2% on Thursday following strong quarterly results. While year-on-year profit surged by 43%, investors are noting the sequential profit decline linked to one-time charges. The company remains debt-free with growth driven by its core recruitment and real estate businesses.

Shares of Info Edge (India) Limited rose approximately 2% on Thursday, trading near Rs 1,360, as investors reacted to the company's latest quarterly financial performance. The stock, which is a significant component of the Nifty Midcap 150 index, saw buying interest after the firm reported its numbers for the first quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Info Edge posted a consolidated net profit of approximately Rs 490 crore, a healthy increase of 42.9% compared to the same period in the previous year. Revenue for the quarter also showed steady growth, reaching roughly Rs 881 crore, an increase of about 11.4% on a year-on-year basis. This performance was supported by the sustained demand in the company’s core recruitment platform, Naukri, and its real estate vertical, 99acres.

While the year-on-year growth trajectory remains strong, the quarterly report also highlighted some volatility when compared to the preceding quarter. Net profit saw a sequential decline, partly attributed to a one-time loss of Rs 72 crore reported during the period. For investors, understanding this dip is important as it highlights that while the underlying business segments are growing, specific accounting charges or one-time events can impact short-term profit margins.

From a financial health perspective, Info Edge continues to maintain a strong balance sheet. The company is essentially debt-free, with a debt-to-equity ratio near zero. This financial flexibility allows the company to focus on investing in its digital platforms and potential growth areas without the burden of interest payments. The company also completed a stock split in May 2025, changing the face value of its shares from Rs 10 to Rs 2, which has impacted the share price structure.

Looking ahead, the primary monitorables for shareholders will be the stability of profit margins and the company's ability to manage costs effectively. The recruitment and real estate sectors are cyclical, meaning they can be sensitive to broader economic shifts and hiring cycles in the Indian economy. Investors may also track valuation metrics like the Price-to-Earnings (P/E) ratio, as high-growth tech-oriented stocks are often sensitive to market sentiment and the company’s ability to consistently deliver on profit expectations. Future updates from the management regarding segment-wise growth and any further impact from one-time charges will be key factors for the market to watch.
