Happiest Minds Technologies reported a 12.5% year-on-year revenue increase to ₹645 crore for the second quarter of FY27. Despite improved profit margins at 18.5%, the company faced growth challenges due to deal delays and weakness in its EdTech segment. Meanwhile, the strategic merger with ITC Infotech remains on track, as the company targets $1 billion in annual revenue by FY28. Shareholders will also receive an interim dividend of ₹3.05 per share.
Happiest Minds Technologies reported a consolidated revenue of ₹645 crore for the second quarter ending September 30, 2026, marking a 12.5% increase compared to the same period last year. While the revenue showed growth, the company acknowledged that it is trailing its ambitious annual targets. Management highlighted that a slowdown in client decision-making led to the deferral of several key deals into future quarters, impacting the pace of expansion.
Operational Margins and Efficiency
Despite the revenue headwinds, the company showed improvements in operational efficiency. Operating margins expanded to 18.5% for the quarter, up from 17.5% in the previous period. This improvement was largely driven by higher employee utilization, which reached 81.8%. This reflects a focused effort by the management to optimize internal costs even as the revenue growth remains constrained by current market conditions. While efficiency improved, the company noted that balancing these internal gains with the need for new business momentum remains a priority.
Navigating Sector Headwinds
The company’s growth has been impacted by persistent weakness in specific business verticals, particularly within the EdTech and high-tech sectors. These areas have faced challenges related to project completions and reduced new business intake, creating a drag on the overall consolidated performance. While the firm continues to see strong demand for generative AI services, management noted that this technology, while enhancing productivity and shortening project timelines, can make it more complex to isolate and report specific AI-related revenue streams.
Strategic Merger and Dividend
A significant focus for investors remains the ongoing merger with ITC Infotech. The integration process is currently progressing, with regulatory approvals underway. The company aims for the combined entity to reach a revenue milestone of US$1 billion by the fiscal year 2028. This partnership is considered a key strategic move to gain scale, increase workforce capacity to 19,000 employees, and improve cross-selling opportunities across a broader client base.
Meanwhile, the company has declared an interim dividend of ₹3.05 per equity share. Investors should note that the record date for this dividend payment is November 6, 2026. Looking ahead, the primary areas for investors to monitor include the regulatory progress of the ITC Infotech merger, the timeline for the combined entity's listing, and whether the company can successfully navigate the current deal deferrals to restore faster growth in the coming quarters.
