HFCL Q2 Profit Jumps 448% To ₹394 Cr, Plans ₹1,800 Cr Capex

HFCL Limited posted a record net profit of ₹394.22 crore for the September 2026 quarter, a 448% increase year-over-year. Revenue surged 143.6% to ₹2,541.79 crore on the back of strong telecom and digital infrastructure demand. The company also announced a ₹1,800 crore expansion plan to boost its optical fiber manufacturing capacity. Shares reached the 5% upper circuit following the announcement.

HFCL Limited shares touched the 5% upper circuit on the National Stock Exchange on Monday after the company reported strong financial results for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. The company recorded a consolidated net profit of ₹394.22 crore, marking a 448.14% jump from the ₹71.92 crore reported in the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter rose 143.6% to ₹2,541.79 crore, driven by high demand for telecom and digital infrastructure solutions.

Operational Efficiency and Profit Margins

The strong bottom-line performance was supported by significant improvements in operating efficiency. EBITDA margins reached 25.89%, while Profit After Tax (PAT) margins expanded by 862 basis points to 15.51%. This efficiency gain reflects the company's ability to manage costs while scaling operations. Management stated that the current business momentum has led them to accelerate their internal timeline for hitting the ₹10,000 crore annual revenue milestone.

Strategic Expansion and Manufacturing Capacity

To support long-term growth, the company announced a ₹1,800 crore capital expenditure program. These funds will be directed toward deepening integration in its optical fiber, cable, and preform manufacturing divisions. By manufacturing more components in-house, the company aims to reduce reliance on external suppliers and protect its margins from raw material price volatility. This expansion is designed to keep pace with the ongoing deployment of digital connectivity infrastructure across the country.

Order Book and Business Risks

HFCL’s order book now exceeds ₹28,900 crore, providing revenue visibility for the next six to seven years. However, the company’s revenue growth remains closely tied to the capital spending cycles of major telecom operators. Any delay or slowdown in the rollout of 5G infrastructure or broader telecom connectivity projects by these clients could impact the pace of order execution. Additionally, while the company is scaling up, the large ₹1,800 crore investment will require disciplined debt management. Investors will likely monitor how the company balances this heavy capital spending with its existing debt obligations, as high interest costs could pressure cash flows if project execution timelines shift.

Looking ahead, the company has raised its revenue growth outlook for FY27, anticipating an increase of at least 80% over the previous year. Alongside its core telecom business, the company’s defense and aerospace unit is also expanding, with revenue for that segment targeted at ₹500 crore for the fiscal year. Shareholders will be watching the progress of the new manufacturing facilities and the actual pace of converting the massive order book into realised revenue over the coming quarters.
