Coforge Hits 8-Month High; Stock Up 31% on Strong AI Gains

Shares of IT firm Coforge reached ₹1,887.70 on August 20, 2026, marking a 31% rise over the last month. The jump follows a strong Q1 performance and a record order book of USD 2.23 billion. Investors are focused on the company’s AI-focused service model and successful recent business integrations.

Coforge shares reached an eight-month high of ₹1,887.70 on August 20, 2026, extending a steady rally that has seen the stock climb 31% over the past four weeks. This movement highlights a significant recovery for the company, which has gained approximately 87% from its 52-week low of ₹1,008.50 recorded in March 2026. The stock's performance reflects investor confidence in the company’s ability to scale its Artificial Intelligence (AI) offerings amid a competitive IT services market.

Strong Q1 Growth and Record Order Book

The rally is supported by robust financial results for the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. Coforge reported a 49% year-on-year growth in consolidated revenue to ₹55,277 million, while net profit jumped by 110% compared to the same period last year. A key contributor to this growth is the company's 12-month executable order book, which now stands at a record USD 2.23 billion, representing a 44% increase over the previous year.

Management has emphasized that services centered around AI, cloud, and data engineering now account for 86% of the company's total revenue. To further build on this, Coforge recently launched a dedicated business unit focused on private equity clients, aiming to leverage its AI and integration expertise. The successful integration of Encora, a recent acquisition, has also provided additional capacity and deal-winning capability, contributing to the firm's positive financial outlook.

Risks and Financial Monitorables

While the market reaction has been positive, investors often track specific business risks that could influence future performance. The company reported losses from currency hedging contracts in the first quarter, with potential for further mark-to-market losses over the next two quarters. Additionally, the broader IT sector remains sensitive to changes in interest rates and global economic conditions, which can impact client spending plans.

There are also ongoing discussions in the industry regarding whether AI-led productivity gains might eventually lead to downward pressure on contract values. For Coforge, maintaining profitability will depend on its ability to manage integration costs as it continues to expand its workforce and operations. Management has reaffirmed its financial guidance for fiscal year 2027, projecting EBITDA margins between 20.5% and 21.0%. Shareholders will likely monitor upcoming updates on order execution rates, margin stability, and the impact of these hedge losses on cash flow to ensure the company remains on its projected growth path.
