Global technology giants are making substantial investments in India's artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, a move set to significantly boost the nation's tech sector and related industries. Companies like Alphabet Inc.'s Google, Microsoft Corporation, and Amazon.com Inc. are committing billions to establish AI hubs and expand cloud capabilities. Google plans $15 billion for an AI hub, Microsoft $3 billion for cloud/AI expansion, and Amazon $12.7 billion by 2030. OpenAI is also reportedly looking to build a data center.
This investment is expected to drive India's data center market past $100 billion by 2027. Investors are focusing on local companies benefiting from this infrastructure build-out. Key beneficiaries include data center operators like Reliance Industries Ltd. and Adani Enterprises Ltd. (via its JV AdaniConneX), telecom partners like Bharti Airtel Ltd., and firms planning their own AI data centers such as Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.
Significant opportunities also exist for manufacturers of essential equipment. This includes providers of electrical and power systems (Hitachi Energy India Ltd., Siemens Ltd., Schneider Electric Infrastructure Ltd., ABB India Ltd.), cables (Havells India Ltd., RR Kabel Ltd., Dynamic Cables Ltd.), cooling solutions (Blue Star Ltd., Voltas Ltd.), and server/computing hardware (Netweb Technologies India Ltd., E2E Networks Ltd.).
Impact: This wave of investment is projected to significantly boost India's economic growth and technology sector, positioning the nation as a key player in the global AI revolution and creating demand across numerous domestic industries. Impact Rating: 9/10
