Pine Labs Chairman Amrish Rau has stated that investors should consider the company's Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) when evaluating its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO). Rau highlighted that Pine Labs has been adjusted Ebitda positive for five consecutive years, positioning it as a strong performer in the payments sector. The company's revenue has seen over 20% growth for the past three years, with adjusted Ebitda margins rising to around 20% in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. However, Rau expressed uncertainty about the timing of achieving sustainable Profit After Tax (PAT) positive status.
The company has initiated its IPO process, driven by its scale and growth. Pine Labs aims to leverage its strengthened brand and market position for the listing. The IPO subscription is scheduled from November 7-12. Pine Labs has reduced the portion offered by existing investors and new shares in its updated prospectus, citing shareholders' decision to retain more stake due to confidence in growth potential.
Impact This news is significant for the Indian stock market as it signals preparations for a major fintech IPO. The focus on Ebitda over PAT for valuation offers investors a specific metric to analyze the company's operational health. The successful listing could boost investor confidence in the Indian tech and payments sector, potentially influencing other upcoming IPOs. Rating: 8/10.
