AI pioneer Yann LeCun is leaving his role as Meta's Chief AI Scientist by the end of the year to establish a new startup focused on advanced artificial intelligence. The startup will research AI with capabilities such as understanding the physical world, persistent memory, reasoning, and complex planning. Meta Platforms plans to partner with the new venture. LeCun co-founded Meta's AI research division in 2013 and is a Turing Award laureate.
