Walmart Inc. announced Thursday the appointment of Shishir Mehrotra, chief executive of Superhuman, to its Board of Directors.
Tech Veteran Joins Retail Giant
Mehrotra brings a wealth of experience in scaling technology platforms. He previously served as CEO and co-founder of Coda, a productivity and AI platform, and before that, as YouTube's Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer. His appointment to the board is effective immediately.
Strategic Committee Roles
The tech veteran will contribute to the Board's Compensation and Management Development Committee and the Technology and eCommerce Committee. These roles align with Walmart's strategic focus on integrating technology and e-commerce to enhance customer experience.
Walmart Chairman Greg Penner highlighted Mehrotra's background as a "proven builder" with expertise in scaling platforms used by millions. Lead independent director Randall Stephenson echoed this sentiment, citing Mehrotra's "rare combination of technical depth and product leadership."
Mehrotra expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating he has long admired Walmart's innovation and core values. He views the current era as a significant technological shift and looks forward to contributing to Walmart's future, especially in the context of an "agentic AI future."
