Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has received a significant legal blow in the United States. The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit upheld a previous ruling that holds TCS liable for $194.2 million in damages, including compensatory damages, exemplary damages, and prejudgment interest. While the court vacated the injunction for reassessment, the substantial financial penalty from a 2019 trade secret misappropriation lawsuit filed by Computer Sciences Corporation (now DXC Technology) remains a key concern. TCS is evaluating its legal options and preparing necessary accounting provisions.
