Salesforce has announced a significant skilling initiative in India aimed at empowering 100,000 students with expertise in agentic AI technologies by the end of 2026. This program, named 'Yuva AI Bharat: GenAI Skill Catalyst', is a collaborative effort with the India AI Mission and SmartBridge, an edtech organization focused on talent acceleration.
The primary goal is to address the escalating demand for AI-ready professionals and mitigate potential job losses due to AI adoption. Arundhati Bhattacharya, President and CEO of Salesforce South Asia, highlighted that while India's tech sector could face significant job losses, strategic scaling exercises could create millions of new jobs. This initiative seeks to ensure India gains these opportunities by upskilling its workforce.
The training will be integrated into academic and industry settings, including engineering and non-technical institutions. Salesforce projects that AI adoption could contribute substantially to India's GDP by 2035 and significantly enhance work within Fortune 1000 companies by 2029.
Impact This initiative can have a substantial positive impact on the Indian job market, equipping students with in-demand AI skills, potentially leading to job creation and economic growth. It strengthens India's position as a digital and AI-ready nation. Rating: 9/10
