Reliance Industries Limited is making a significant technological and energy investment in Andhra Pradesh by establishing a 1-gigawatt (GW) Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centre, positioning the state as a key hub for advanced technology infrastructure. The proposed Visakhapatnam data centre will host advanced processors like Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) and Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), aiming to be part of one of Asia's strongest AI infrastructure networks.
To ensure sustainable operations, Reliance will develop a massive 6-GWp solar power project. This initiative is projected to double Andhra Pradesh's ground-mounted solar capacity and contribute over 30% of its renewable energy target, unlocking the state's solar potential.
Beyond technology and energy, Reliance is diversifying by establishing a large greenfield integrated food park in Kurnool, focused on producing various food products. This facility aims to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs and boost local economies.
These investments are part of 14 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed with the state government, building upon Reliance's existing $25 billion investment in Andhra Pradesh.
Impact: This news significantly bolsters Andhra Pradesh's position as a hub for advanced technology and sustainable energy. The data centre and solar projects are expected to attract substantial investment, create thousands of jobs, and enhance the state's digital and green infrastructure. For investors, it signals Reliance Industries' strategic expansion into high-growth technology sectors and its commitment to driving long-term development within India. Impact Rating: 9/10
