Hinduja Global Solutions Partners Uttar Pradesh Government on Digital Skills Initiative
Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh government. The agreement, signed on March 17, 2026, aims to equip one lakh youth in the state with essential digital economy skills, with HGS executing the program through its subsidiary, OneOTT Intertainment Ltd. (OIL).
This partnership is designed to significantly enhance the employability of young people in Uttar Pradesh, aligning the local workforce with the rapidly evolving demands of emerging technologies. It positions HGS as a key contributor to the state's digital transformation and skilling agenda.
Hinduja Global Solutions is a global provider of Business Process Management (BPM) and digital transformation services, operating as part of the diversified Hinduja Group. Its subsidiary, OIL, is recognized as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) known for its 'ONE' broadband service. The Uttar Pradesh government has been actively promoting digital literacy and advanced technology training, evidenced by initiatives like the 'AI Pragya' program and collaborations with NASSCOM to foster new-age tech skills among its youth.
The collaboration allows HGS to leverage OIL's infrastructure for government-backed skill development, potentially broadening its service offerings beyond traditional BPM. This engagement could also open new avenues for HGS in socio-economic development projects led by state governments, strengthening its profile as a contributor to India's digital inclusion efforts. The program's scale indicates a potential for a scalable engagement model.
The initiative follows Hinduja Global Solutions' reported total income of ₹4,959 crore for the fiscal year 2025. However, the company faces ongoing scrutiny, including allegations of tax evasion amounting to approximately ₹2,500 crore from the Income Tax Department, which HGS denies and plans to contest legally. Additionally, there was an adjudication order issued by SEBI in 2018 concerning Sharepro Services.
This move into government-led skilling aligns HGS with broader industry trends, where major IT and BPM firms often participate in large-scale skilling programs and corporate social responsibility initiatives, sometimes in partnership with governments. Key aspects to monitor will include the successful implementation and completion rates of the skilling program in Uttar Pradesh, the number of youth ultimately trained, and their subsequent employment outcomes. The long-term impact of this partnership on HGS's revenue and profitability, as well as any further developments regarding the tax allegations, will also be closely watched.
