Ahmedabad's IT Pivot

This shift challenges established tech hubs by offering cost-efficient, scalable infrastructure and a clear policy framework. The Gujarat government plays a key role in this transition, with policies like the Gujarat IT/ITES Policy 2022–27 and the Gujarat GCC Policy. These offer significant financial incentives for companies setting up operations in the state.

State Policies Drive Investment

Under the Gujarat IT/ITES Policy 2022–27, companies can get capital expenditure support up to 25% (capped at ₹150 crore), a ₹1 per unit power subsidy for five years, and electricity duty exemptions for up to five years. Employment generation incentives, like EPF reimbursement, further boost the offer. The Gujarat GCC Policy provides further support for infrastructure, talent development, and faster regulatory approvals for global capability centres.

Ganesh Housing's $1 Billion Tech City

Central to Ahmedabad's new identity is Ganesh Housing Limited's $1 billion investment in Million Minds Tech City. This project covers about 65 acres near SG Highway, aiming for nearly 18 million sq ft of total built-up area, including 10 million sq ft of Grade A office space. It's planned in phases with residential, retail, and hospitality components to create a self-sustaining community.

Infrastructure and Talent Base

The Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar–GIFT corridor offers reliable power, including renewable sources, strong road networks, and a skilled talent pool in engineering, finance, and technology. Million Minds Tech City is designed for global enterprises, featuring large, efficient office floors, IGBC Platinum-certified green buildings, and advanced management systems.

Why GCCs are Looking at Ahmedabad

India has over 1,500 GCCs, and as they grow, companies seek cost savings and risk diversification. Ahmedabad offers strong advantages with cost efficiencies, lower staff turnover, and strong policy alignment. Million Minds Tech City directly addresses the need for Grade A office space built for global enterprises and GCC operations.

Outlook: Ahmedabad's Rise

"India's next phase of growth will see multiple specialized hubs, not just a few cities," says Shekhar Patel, National President of CREDAI. "Ahmedabad is well-placed to lead this transformation, thanks to clear policies and long-term infrastructure investment." The Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar–GIFT corridor is emerging as a key area in India's future IT growth and enterprise workspace development.
