Corporate Roundup: Avalon Sees Block Deal; Ganesh Divests Assets

Dalal Street witnessed notable activity today as Avalon Technologies faced a large block deal, while Ganesh Benzoplast announced an asset divestment worth Rs 1,154 crore. Simultaneously, Power Mech Projects and KSB secured significant new orders, and Hindustan Aeronautics remained in focus following analyst commentary on its delivery timeline.

The Indian stock market saw significant corporate action on September 30, with investors tracking major equity transactions, large asset sales, and new order wins across the engineering and defense sectors.

Avalon Technologies experienced selling pressure during early trade, with its stock falling 4%. This movement followed a substantial block deal where approximately 40.5 lakh shares changed hands. The transaction, which represents about 6.06% of the company's total equity, was valued at Rs 883 crore, with shares trading at Rs 2,181 per share. Investors are now monitoring the situation to see if this change in shareholding structure leads to sustained volatility or a transition in investor base.

Ganesh Benzoplast shares also saw a decline, falling 5% following the company's announcement of a major divestment. The firm has entered into definitive agreements to sell its liquid storage tank and railway network segments for Rs 1,154 crore. The buyer is Cisternina Logistics, a platform majority-owned by the private equity firm KKR. This divestment represents a significant shift for the company, and shareholders will likely track how this capital is deployed or used to manage debt levels in the coming quarters.

In the engineering and infrastructure space, two companies announced significant order wins. Power Mech Projects saw its share price rise 3% after announcing a service contract worth Rs 549.37 crore. The firm will manage operation and maintenance services for the Adani Group’s 2x600 MW Moxie Power Generation plant in Tuticorin. Additionally, KSB reported an 8% gain in its share price following the announcement of an export contract. The company will supply a boiler feed pump package to Dangote Projects Free Zone Enterprise, with the deal valued at up to Rs 118 crore. These orders are seen as contributors to the companies' order books, providing visibility for future revenue.

Meanwhile, Hindustan Aeronautics continued to attract investor attention. Brokerage firm Jefferies maintained a positive view on the stock, reiterating a target price of Rs 6,800. The management has expressed confidence regarding the delivery timeline for the Tejas Mk1A aircraft, which currently accounts for 43% of the company's order book. With the recent receipt of 10 GE engines and the successful delivery of the trainer variant, analysts are focusing on the program's execution as a potential driver for the company's future performance. The core monitorable for investors remains the successful execution of these delivery timelines to ensure revenue recognition.
