Quick commerce firm Zepto has confirmed the departure of several senior leaders. Chandan Rungta, chief executive of its meat business Relish, is among the latest to leave, with his last working day in September. Vinay Dhanani, President at Zepto, will continue to lead the Relish division. Other executives who have departed include Apoorv Pandey, Senior Vice President of Strategy, and Chandresh Dedhia, Vice President and Head of Information Technology. These exits follow earlier departures, such as Shashank Shekhar Sharma, Zepto Cafe’s Chief Experience Officer. Relish, Zepto's private-label meat brand, faces competition from players like FreshToHome and Licious, and had generated monthly revenue of ₹50-60 crore in September, with annual projections exceeding ₹500 crore. Other recent exits include Senior Director-Brand Anant Rastogi, business heads Suraj Sipani and Vijay Bandhiya, and director of strategy Roshan Shaikh. Following these departures, Zepto President Vinay Dhanani is expected to oversee both the company’s private-label operations and Zepto Cafe.
Impact This news indicates potential internal restructuring or challenges within Zepto, which could affect operational execution and investor sentiment. However, the recent substantial funding of $450 million (around ₹4,000 crore), which valued the company at $7 billion, suggests strong underlying support and confidence from major investors like California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and General Catalyst. This could potentially mitigate the negative impact of leadership churn. Rating: 6/10
