TravClan Raises $5 Million to Expand B2B Travel Platform

Delhi-based traveltech startup TravClan secured $5 million from Flipkart, August One, and Trifecta Capital to grow its B2B supply network. The company supports over 15,000 agents and processes more than $100 million in annual travel sales. This funding will help expand its AI-driven tech and inventory, building on an earlier investment by Flipkart to improve international holiday offerings for users.

TravClan, a business-to-business (B2B) travel technology platform, has raised $5 million in a fresh funding round led by existing investor Flipkart, along with participation from August One and Trifecta Capital. This capital infusion is intended to help the startup scale its global supply network and improve its artificial intelligence capabilities, aiming to provide better pricing and reliability to the travel agents it serves.

Founded in 2018 by professionals previously associated with OYO, TravelTriangle, and Cars24, the company focuses on the travel agent ecosystem rather than selling directly to individual consumers. By creating a platform that powers over 15,000 independent travel agents, TravClan generates annual travel sales exceeding $100 million. A notable driver of this volume is demand from India’s Tier II and Tier III cities, where independent travel businesses are increasingly looking for easier access to international holiday inventory.

Strategic Focus on Supply Chain

Unlike many consumer-facing travel platforms that spend heavily on marketing to acquire individual travelers, TravClan operates on a model that prioritizes owning its supply chain. The company secures direct contracts with hotels and local activity partners across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and India. By controlling these supply contracts, the company aims to offer more consistent pricing and higher service standards to its agent network. This operational strategy is designed to create a more sustainable business model by reducing the high customer acquisition costs typical in the travel industry.

Investor Synergy and Market Context

Flipkart’s continued involvement follows an earlier investment in the startup, which was aimed at boosting the international travel inventory for its own platforms, Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel. The partnership highlights a shift where larger e-commerce players are integrating specialized B2B travel infrastructure to broaden their service offerings. This comes as the broader Indian travel sector experiences a significant recovery and expansion. According to industry data, Indian nationals recorded over 30 million departures in 2024, signaling a surge in outbound tourism that supports the growth of platforms providing international package infrastructure.

Industry Challenges

While the company continues to scale, it operates in a competitive environment where incumbents and other tech-enabled platforms are vying for market share. For a B2B model, the key challenge remains maintaining the loyalty and activity levels of the 15,000 travel agents on its platform. Success for TravClan will depend on its ability to keep supply costs competitive and its technology platform efficient enough to handle the growing volume of international bookings. Investors and industry participants will likely watch how the company uses this fresh capital to expand its supply network and whether it can maintain its growth momentum as it competes for a larger share of the travel distribution industry.
