Info Edge has led an Rs 8.9 crore seed funding round for industrial workforce platform Factrika, acquiring an initial 18.58% stake. The startup aims to modernize blue-collar staffing in manufacturing hubs, though it faces challenges related to high worker turnover and competition from traditional contractors. The investment underscores Info Edge's strategy to expand its recruitment footprint beyond white-collar jobs into the unorganized industrial sector.

Info Edge has led an Rs 8.9 crore seed funding round for Factrika, an industrial workforce management platform. The investment gives the recruitment-focused parent company an initial 18.58% stake in the startup, with the potential to increase its holding to 26% based on future performance. This move highlights Info Edge's strategy to expand its recruitment footprint beyond its traditional white-collar dominance and penetrate the fragmented, multi-billion dollar industrial staffing sector in India.

Targeting Inefficiencies in Manufacturing

Factrika, operated by Udyogtech Ventures, focuses on fixing the manual, inefficient staffing processes common in Indian factories. Manufacturers often struggle with a daily workforce shortage of 20% to 25%, driven by high attrition and the reliance on traditional, unorganized labor contractors. Factrika intends to use the fresh capital to scale its proprietary technology and expand its physical presence in key manufacturing clusters like Manesar, Noida, and Bhiwadi. The startup claims its digital platform allows for worker deployment within two hours, moving away from fragmented contractor-based hiring.

Strategic Fit for Info Edge

For Info Edge, the parent company of Naukri.com, this investment aligns with its core expertise in recruitment tech. By digitizing the blue-collar recruitment life cycle—including shift management, attendance tracking, and payment processing—the company is attempting to bring structured hiring to the manufacturing sector. The platform currently supports over 10,000 registered workers across 20 skill categories and has attracted clients such as Lenskart, Asahi India Glass, and Jubilant Foodworks. The company estimates the total addressable market for these solutions in India is approximately $23 billion.

Operational Risks and Challenges

While the market opportunity is large, scaling an industrial staffing platform involves significant operational hurdles. The blue-collar segment is characterized by high worker churn and varying levels of digital literacy, which can make consistent platform adoption difficult. Furthermore, Factrika must compete with deeply entrenched local labor contractors who have long-standing relationships with factory management and often control the supply of manual labor in specific regions. The success of this expansion will depend on the platform's ability to maintain a high show-up rate, which the company currently reports at 90%, and its capability to provide reliable, scalable, and cost-effective services to large manufacturers.

Investors will likely track the company's progress in scaling its operational footprint across the planned industrial hubs and the speed at which it converts its current client roster into long-term, high-volume recurring business. Additionally, the fulfillment of the performance milestones required for Info Edge to increase its equity stake to 26% will be an important metric to watch in the coming quarters.
