Firstwork Raises $15 Million Series A for AI Hiring Tech

Bengaluru-based AI startup Firstwork has secured $15 million in Series A funding led by Earlybird Venture Capital. The firm, which automates frontline worker onboarding for industries like logistics and healthcare, plans to use the capital to expand its engineering teams and grow its presence in the US and Europe. This brings the company's total funding to $20 million as it targets broader workforce lifecycle management.

Firstwork, an AI startup founded in 2024, has raised $15 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Earlybird Venture Capital, with participation from previous backers including Y Combinator and Gradient. New investors in this round included Legion VC and Deel Ventures. This latest capital injection brings the total amount raised by the Bengaluru-headquartered firm to $20 million.

The company provides AI software designed to automate the onboarding process for frontline workers in high-volume sectors such as logistics and healthcare. Its platform integrates with existing HR and payroll systems to handle document verification, background checks, and training coordination. According to the company, it currently manages onboarding for over 150,000 workers every month, aiming to reduce the time spent between a job offer and the first shift.

Firstwork plans to use the new funds to expand its research and engineering teams. The company is also moving beyond its initial focus on hiring to address broader workforce tasks, including credential renewals and ongoing compliance management. Part of this strategy involves setting up an office in London to better support its growing client base in the European market.

As the company scales, it enters a competitive sector for recruitment technology. Within the Indian market, Firstwork competes with platforms such as Hunar.AI and TurboHire. The business model relies on the ongoing adoption of automation by enterprise clients, many of whom are looking to reduce manual human-led processes in high-turnover roles.

For investors and stakeholders, the key to the company’s success will be its ability to manage growth across different regions. While the firm maintains a strong technical hub in Bengaluru, its expansion into the US and Europe will require effective execution in diverse regulatory and operational environments. Success will likely depend on whether the company can successfully transition its product from a simple onboarding tool to a comprehensive lifecycle management platform that remains useful as enterprises look to optimize costs.
