ideaForge CEO Pledges Shares Amid GST Demand and Loss

ideaForge CEO Ankit Mehta has pledged an additional 0.56% stake to secure personal financing, bringing his total encumbered equity to 1.30%. This move follows a challenging quarter where the company posted a net loss and received a significant ₹109 crore GST tax demand, drawing attention to company liquidity.

ideaForge Technology’s CEO Ankit Mehta has pledged an additional 2.8 lakh shares of the company, a move that draws attention given the recent financial challenges the drone manufacturer is currently navigating. According to regulatory disclosures, the transaction was finalized on September 28, 2026, with Infina Finance Private Limited. This brings the CEO's total pledged stake to approximately 6.5 lakh shares, representing roughly 1.30% of the company’s total outstanding equity.

This development coincides with a difficult period for the Mumbai-based manufacturer. For the quarter ended June 2026, ideaForge reported a consolidated net loss of ₹2.59 crore, marking a shift from previous quarters. The company is also managing a significant regulatory hurdle regarding a GST tax demand notice for ₹54.586 crore, accompanied by an equal penalty of ₹54.586 crore, totaling ₹109.17 crore for the period between January 2022 and March 2024. The firm has publicly announced its intention to file an appeal to contest these findings.

Investors are examining this pledge because the company recently raised ₹500 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) in July 2026. While that capital was intended to support working capital and research needs, the CEO's decision to pledge additional personal shares suggests ongoing liquidity requirements. In the stock market, promoter share pledging is often monitored closely by shareholders as it can indicate financial strain or potential pressure on the stock price.

As of October 5, 2026, the company’s stock was trading around ₹702. With the trading window for company insiders closed effective October 1, 2026, ahead of the second-quarter financial results, the market is awaiting further clarity. Moving forward, the most important updates for investors to track will be the outcome of the GST tax appeal, the timeline for the company’s return to profitability, and any future management commentary regarding liquidity and balance sheet strength.
