Nifty, Bank Nifty Break Consolidation Range With 1% Gains

The Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty closed with gains of over 1% on October 29, moving past their recent trading ranges. Technical indicators show support building at lower levels, though volatility in crude oil prices remains a headwind for the broader market.

The Indian equity market saw a positive shift on October 29 as both major indices, Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty, moved past their recent consolidation patterns. The Nifty 50 ended the session at 22,937, registering a gain of 1.05 percent. This movement effectively pushed the index out of the previous trading range of 22,300 to 22,800. By closing above these levels, the index also reclaimed its 20-day exponential moving average, a technical indicator that tracks average price trends over the last 20 days.

The Bank Nifty index followed a similar trend, rising more than 1 percent to close at 54,910. The formation of a piercing pattern on daily charts suggests that the banking sector found buying interest near the 53,800 support level. For the Nifty 50, analysts are focused on the 23,200 level as the next potential resistance point. For the Bank Nifty, the zone between 55,000 and 55,100 is seen as a key hurdle that may influence future price action.

Derivatives data, which tracks futures and options trading, shows a shift in sentiment. New positions were added at the 22,700 and 22,800 levels for the Nifty 50, indicating that traders are establishing support clusters below the current price. Additionally, the Put-Call ratio has moved above 1, a sign that traders are building a defensive cushion on the downside. Despite the positive momentum, external pressures remain. Elevated crude oil prices continue to be a concern for the Indian market, as higher oil costs can impact corporate margins and increase inflation, potentially limiting the speed of the current recovery. Investors may monitor whether the indices hold above their critical support levels or if oil price volatility triggers selling pressure in the coming sessions.
