Markets Brace For Earnings As Hero MotoCorp Posts Q2 Profit

Indian markets are set for a cautious opening today as investors await key earnings from companies like Coal India and IndiGo. Hero MotoCorp posted a strong 42% profit jump, while TVS Motor announced a demerger of its finance arm. Markets remain watchful due to global trends and high oil prices impacting sentiment.

Indian stock markets are expected to see a cautious start today, with GIFT Nifty futures hinting at a dip of around 55 points. This sentiment follows a cooling trend in global markets, where investors are worried about the scalability of investments in artificial intelligence. On the local front, rising energy prices, with Brent crude oil trading near $114 per barrel, are keeping markets on edge.

In corporate results, Hero MotoCorp caught investor attention by reporting a 42 per cent increase in consolidated profit to ₹1,861 crore. This performance outperformed market expectations and stood out in the auto sector. Conversely, Hyundai Motor reported a 23.9 per cent drop in net profit to ₹1,196.5 crore, citing pressure on profit margins due to higher raw material costs. PNB Housing Finance also shared its results, showing a 6 per cent rise in profit to ₹617 crore, helped by a 15 per cent growth in net interest income.

Strategic movements are also keeping the market busy. The board of TVS Motor Company has approved a demerger to separate its consumer finance unit into a new entity called Harita ARC. This is part of the company's plan to simplify its business operations. In the electric vehicle sector, Ola Electric successfully closed its ₹1,000 crore rights issue, showing strong interest from investors despite the overall market hesitation. Meanwhile, e-commerce company Meesho reported a smaller net loss of ₹132.4 crore compared to its previous loss of ₹411.4 crore, signaling a significant improvement in its financial health.

On the regulatory and real estate front, the Securities Appellate Tribunal set aside a penalty of ₹1.49 crore that was previously imposed on Ventura Securities in a dispute involving the Multi Commodity Exchange. Additionally, Anant Raj Ltd has received approval from the real estate authority for a new luxury project in Gurugram, which adds to the company's development pipeline in Northern India.

Looking ahead, investors are focusing on today’s scheduled earnings announcements from major companies, including Coal India, Asian Paints, and IndiGo. Market participants will be watching these results to gauge how different sectors are handling current economic pressures and input costs.
