State-run NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has successfully commissioned an additional 106 megawatt (MW) solar power capacity. This expansion is part of its 300 MW Barsingsar Solar Power Project located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan. With this new addition, the total commissioned capacity of the Barsingsar project now stands at 158.83 MW, following the earlier commissioning of 52.83 MW. The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RRECL) has granted the commissioning certificate.
The project utilizes indigenously manufactured, high-efficiency bifacial solar PV modules, supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and boosting domestic manufacturing. All the solar power generated will be supplied to the State of Rajasthan, contributing to its renewable energy mix. NLCIL plans to achieve the full 300 MW capacity by December 2025.
Impact: This development significantly enhances NLCIL's renewable energy portfolio and contributes to India's clean energy targets. It demonstrates the company's commitment to expanding its green energy generation capacity, which is positive for its financial performance and valuation. Investors in the renewable energy sector may see this as a positive indicator for NLCIL.
Impact rating: 7/10
