Goldi Solar, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, announced on Wednesday that it has successfully raised over ₹1,400 crore in a significant growth capital funding round. The round was led by Havells India, which reportedly infused ₹600 crore. The capital infusion also saw participation from a consortium of high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), institutional, and strategic investors, including notable figures like Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, who invested around ₹140 crore. Other investors mentioned are Shahi Exports Pvt Ltd, SRF Transnational Holdings Ltd, Karmav Real Estate Holdings LLP, NSFO Ventures LLP, and Godwitt Construction Pvt Ltd. The total funds raised amount to ₹1,422 crore.
The primary objective of this capital infusion is to fuel Goldi Solar's ambitious future growth plans. These include expanding its manufacturing capacity, which has already seen a substantial increase from 3 GW to 14.7 GW in the past year. The funds will also support backward integration into solar cell production, with the company developing a 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Furthermore, the investment will accelerate innovation in high-efficiency solar technologies and strengthen the company's sales and distribution network.
