Bengaluru-based Emmvee Photovoltaic Power, a significant player in the solar photovoltaic (PV) module and solar cell manufacturing sector, has garnered ₹1,305 crore from 55 anchor investors just before its Initial Public Offering (IPO) opened. This pre-IPO fundraising demonstrates strong investor confidence.
The company's overall IPO aims to raise ₹2,900 crore. This comprises ₹2,143.9 crore from the issuance of new shares and ₹756.1 crore from promoters selling existing shares through an offer-for-sale (OFS). The shares are being offered in a price band of ₹206 to ₹217 each. The public subscription period is scheduled from November 11 to November 13.
Emmvee, which claims to be the second-largest pure-play integrated solar PV module and solar cell manufacturer, allocated approximately 6.01 crore equity shares to anchor investors at the upper price limit. Notable global investors participating include Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Prudential Hong Kong, Morgan Stanley, and Citigroup. Ten domestic mutual funds also participated, acquiring about 49.81 percent of the anchor portion.
The company currently possesses a solar PV module production capacity of 7.80 GW and a cell production capacity of 2.94 GW. It plans to utilize ₹1,621.3 crore of the fresh capital to repay certain borrowings, with the remainder allocated for general corporate needs. Emmvee also has ambitious expansion plans, aiming to increase its solar PV module capacity to 16.30 GW and solar cell capacity to 8.94 GW by the first half of Fiscal Year 2028.
Impact This IPO is expected to significantly impact the renewable energy sector in India by infusing capital into a key manufacturing player, enabling capacity expansion and potentially driving down costs through increased production. It also signals robust investor appetite for Indian clean energy companies.
