India's renewable energy sector experienced a monumental year in 2025, adding an estimated 48 GW of new capacity. This figure includes large hydropower projects and signifies a dramatic acceleration in the nation's clean energy trajectory. Excluding large hydro, the country still connected approximately 45 GW of new renewable capacity to the grid.This surge represents a significant leap compared to the 28 GW added in 2024. The substantial year-on-year increase reflects heightened investor confidence, supportive government policies, and advancements in renewable technology deployment across the country.
