Detailed Coverage:

Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) has announced a major expansion strategy in India, prioritizing growth in leisure destinations and around key airports. Nikhil Sharma, RHG's Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer (South Asia), confirmed the signing of a new 350-key hotel under its luxury lifestyle Radisson Collection brand near Navi Mumbai airport. This property will be RHG's largest in India to date by room count and is slated to open by the fourth quarter of 2028. It will be the third RHG property in Navi Mumbai.

This expansion is driven by the substantial growth in India's airport infrastructure, which has doubled in the last decade, alongside a burgeoning tourism sector. RHG is actively pursuing deals near two other strategic airports and already has properties near Delhi and Chandigarh airports.

Davashish Srivastava, RHG’s Senior Director (development), South Asia, highlighted Navi Mumbai as a prime location for hotels, believing the Radisson Collection brand is an ideal fit. The area is competitive, with JW Marriott and Hyatt Regency also under development. RHG is also developing another hotel near the D Y Patil cricket stadium.

Currently, RHG has a substantial portfolio in India, with over 200 hotels, including more than 130 operational and 70 in the pipeline across 80 cities. The group has shown rapid growth, signing 59 hotels in the past 18 months. K B Kachru, RHG’s Chairman (South Asia), expressed confidence that India's branded hotel rooms will grow from the current 2 lakh to over a million by 2030.

Impact This expansion signifies strong confidence in India's hospitality and tourism sector. It will likely lead to increased competition, potentially affecting room rates and service standards. For investors, it signals growth opportunities in real estate and hospitality-related sectors. The development of luxury properties can also boost regional tourism and economic activity.
