Shadowfax: Newquest Sells Rs 200 Crore Stake; Oxbow Buys In

Newquest Asia Fund sold a 1.36% stake in Shadowfax Technologies for Rs 200 crore, while Oxbow Master Fund increased its holding to 2%. This institutional shuffle comes as the logistics firm continues its post-IPO journey, balancing strong revenue growth against sector-wide competitive and margin risks.

On September 8, 2026, Newquest Asia Fund offloaded a 1.36% stake in logistics provider Shadowfax Technologies through open market transactions. This sale, valued at approximately Rs 200 crore, reduces Newquest’s total shareholding in the company to 8.03%. The transaction saw active participation from the institutional side, with Hong Kong-based Oxbow Master Fund acquiring 47.85 lakh shares for Rs 119.6 crore, thereby raising its total position in the firm to 2%.

Business Performance and Growth

Shadowfax, which listed on the NSE and BSE in January 2026, has been focusing on expanding its footprint in the express, hyperlocal, and quick-commerce logistics segments. In its recent results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 66 crore. Revenue also showed strong momentum, rising 65% year-on-year to Rs 1,358 crore. The company reported operating margins of 6.8%, reflecting its attempt to improve profitability in a scaling business model.

Risks and Monitorables

While the company has shown revenue growth, investors should consider the specific risks inherent in the logistics sector. The industry is characterized by intense price competition and continuous pressure on profit margins. Additionally, Shadowfax’s promoter holding stands at a relatively low 16.5%, which is a factor shareholders often evaluate regarding long-term stability and decision-making control.

Another point for investors is the company’s valuation. The stock is currently trading at approximately 8.3 times its book value. Furthermore, despite reaching profitability, the company has not yet declared any dividends, which is common for firms prioritizing rapid capital reinvestment but a factor for income-focused investors to note. Operational costs, particularly fluctuations in fuel prices and labor, remain persistent challenges that can impact quarterly performance.

The key focus for shareholders moving forward will be how Shadowfax balances its aggressive growth strategy with the need to maintain or improve its operating margins. Investors may track the company's ability to defend its market share against both traditional logistics players and new, tech-focused entrants. Ongoing management commentary regarding capacity utilization and cost-efficiency measures in coming quarters will be essential for assessing the company's financial trajectory.
