SaveSage Adds IndiGo BluChips Reward Program for Bill Payments

SaveSage has launched a new reward system allowing users to earn 1 IndiGo BluChip for every ₹1,000 spent on bill payments. The program, which is capped at 1,000 BluChips per month, enables users to convert routine utility and credit card expenses into airline loyalty points.

Fintech startup SaveSage has announced a partnership with IndiGo’s loyalty program, IndiGo BluChip, to allow its users to earn travel rewards on routine financial transactions. Under this new initiative, customers paying credit card and utility bills through the SaveSage app will receive 1 BluChip for every ₹1,000 spent.

Earning Rewards on Routine Payments

The move is designed to address a common pain point for credit card users: the lack of reward points on monthly bill payments. Most credit card issuers do not offer reward points for paying credit card bills through third-party platforms. By introducing this program, SaveSage aims to incentivize users to conduct these transactions on its app. The earned BluChips can be redeemed for various benefits within the IndiGo ecosystem, including flight bookings, seat upgrades, and in-flight meal purchases.

There is a specific limit to the rewards users can accumulate. The program is capped at 1,000 BluChips per month. This means that if a user makes payments totaling more than ₹10 lakh in a single month, they will not earn additional BluChips beyond the cap. For instance, a payment of ₹25,000 yields 25 BluChips, while a payment of ₹5 lakh yields 500 BluChips.

Program Context and User Considerations

SaveSage is an early-stage, private fintech startup that gained attention after its appearance on the reality show Shark Tank India. As the platform is still in its seed stage of development, its operational model and service offerings may evolve rapidly. Users should keep in mind that the terms of such loyalty programs, including earning rates and redemption values, are often subject to change by the companies involved.

Before relying on these rewards, users should verify if their specific utility providers or credit card issuers are classified as eligible for the program, as payment platforms sometimes face restrictions from banks regarding certain types of transactions. Additionally, while the BluChips provide value for frequent IndiGo flyers, they are specific to the airline, which limits their flexibility compared to more universal reward points that can be transferred across different airlines or hotel chains. Users may also want to monitor the app for any updates regarding minimum redemption thresholds or point expiration policies, which are standard features in airline loyalty programs.
