Raymond Shares Hit 52-Week High Ahead Of Oct 3 EGM

Raymond stock touched a 52-week high of Rs 1,193.40 as the company prepares for an October 3 meeting to approve a capital raise. The board plans to issue 33.28 lakh convertible warrants to Minerva Ventures Fund at Rs 645 per share.

Raymond shares hit a 52-week high of Rs 1,193.40 on the National Stock Exchange on Tuesday, continuing a sharp rally that has seen the stock price rise significantly over the last six months. The movement follows the company's announcement of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for October 3, where management will seek shareholder approval to raise capital.

The company plans to issue 33.28 lakh convertible warrants to Minerva Ventures Fund on a private placement basis. These warrants are priced at Rs 645 each. A convertible warrant is a financial instrument that gives the investor the right to purchase shares of the company at a predetermined price at a future date. Essentially, this allows the company to secure capital now in exchange for issuing new shares later.

For investors, this EGM is a significant event as it marks a major capital allocation decision. Raymond has been actively reorganizing its business, including the recent demerger of its lifestyle division, as part of a strategy to sharpen its corporate focus. The market is currently assessing how this new capital will be used—whether to lower existing debt levels further or to support the expansion of its real estate and engineering divisions.

A key point for shareholders is the difference between the warrant issue price and the current market price. The warrants are priced at Rs 645, which is notably lower than the current trading price of over Rs 1,100. While this is common in private placement deals, it does mean that when these warrants are eventually converted into shares, the total number of shares will increase. This process, known as equity dilution, means that each existing share will represent a slightly smaller portion of the company’s total value and earnings.

The outcome of the October 3 meeting will clarify the company's immediate path forward. Beyond the approval of the warrant issuance, investors will likely look for management commentary on how these funds will specifically impact the long-term balance sheet, particularly as the company navigates its post-demerger growth phase. The ability to maintain profit margins while managing this transition will be a monitorable factor for shareholders.
