Ram Temple Trust Shortlists 18 for CEO Role After Scandal

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has narrowed its search for a Chief Executive Officer to 18 candidates from over 5,300 applicants. This hiring initiative follows a recent embezzlement scandal that led to police investigations and arrests. The new leadership role is part of an effort to improve the administrative oversight of the temple's operations.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is moving to strengthen its management structure by hiring a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The trust has shortlisted 18 candidates for the position after reviewing more than 5,300 applications. Interviews for these candidates are scheduled to be held on August 11 and August 12, 2026, at the temple premises.

This administrative change follows a period of significant controversy for the trust. In June 2026, allegations regarding the embezzlement of temple donations led to an official probe by a Special Investigation Team formed by the Uttar Pradesh government. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on June 25, which resulted in the arrest of eight individuals in connection with the misuse of funds. During the investigation, authorities reported the recovery of cash, gold, silver, and foreign currency.

Since the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is a private, independent organization and not a publicly listed company, it does not release stock market filings or financial results. Consequently, the appointment of a CEO is a private governance matter focused on internal management rather than shareholder oversight. The move is viewed as a necessary step to address operational gaps and restore confidence following the recent financial mismanagement reports.

The trust has outlined specific requirements for the CEO position. The successful candidate must be a practicing Hindu, adhere to Hindu traditions, be a complete teetotaller, and be a pure vegetarian. Additionally, the age requirement for the role is set between 50 and 70 years. The new CEO will be tasked with overseeing the daily administration of the temple and its associated activities.

The upcoming interviews this week mark a critical step in the trust’s efforts to establish a more formal leadership hierarchy. The primary focus for observers will be the final selection and the ability of the new leadership to implement stricter financial controls and operational transparency to prevent future governance issues.
