Qualcomm Sells Shadowfax Stake; Tube Investments Boosts Shanthi Gears Holding

Qualcomm Asia Pacific has sold a 1.28% stake in Shadowfax Technologies for Rs 183.8 crore, continuing a trend of major investors exiting the firm. Conversely, promoter Tube Investments of India has increased its stake in Shanthi Gears by 2.69% for Rs 77.49 crore, driving the stock to its 20% upper circuit.

In a series of major block deals on August 21, 2026, two key developments caught investor attention. American technology firm Qualcomm reduced its exposure to the logistics company Shadowfax Technologies, while Tube Investments of India increased its control over the engineering firm Shanthi Gears.

Institutional Exit at Shadowfax

Qualcomm Asia Pacific Pte, a subsidiary of the US-based tech giant, sold 7.5 million shares of Shadowfax Technologies. This stake, representing 1.28% of the company, was offloaded at Rs 245.13 per share, totaling Rs 183.8 crore. This transaction follows a pattern of divestment at the logistics firm, with other notable investors such as Flipkart Internet, Eight Roads Investments, and Newquest Asia Fund also reducing their holdings since the company's IPO in January 2026.

Following the sale, Shadowfax shares closed at Rs 255.40 on the National Stock Exchange, reflecting a 1.01% decline. The consistent selling pressure from marquee investors often signals a period of profit-taking or exits by early-stage backers after the lock-in period concludes. Investors will likely monitor whether these exits stabilize as the company matures from its early post-listing phase.

Promoter Confidence in Shanthi Gears

In a contrasting move, the promoter of Shanthi Gears, Tube Investments of India, purchased 2.06 million shares from Pacific Assets Trust Plc. The deal was executed at Rs 375.30 per share, amounting to Rs 77.49 crore. With this acquisition, the promoter's stake in the engineering company has risen to 73.16%.

The market reacted positively to this display of promoter confidence, with Shanthi Gears shares surging to hit the 20% upper circuit, closing at Rs 464.25 on Friday. While this indicates strong market sentiment, investors should note the company's recent financial performance. Shanthi Gears reported a turnover of Rs 518.72 crore for the fiscal year 2026, which is lower than the Rs 604.62 crore recorded in FY25. The stock is currently trading below its 52-week high of Rs 598.90.

The key monitorable for shareholders in Shanthi Gears will be whether the promoter’s continued investment helps drive a turnaround in business growth to offset the recent decline in revenue. For Shadowfax, the focus remains on how the stock price behaves as major early-stage investors complete their planned exits.
