Mumbai Court Remands 12th Suspect in Tiger Shroff Case

A special MCOCA court has granted six days of police custody to Amar Mundiya, the 12th arrest linked to the October 18 shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff. Authorities allege Mundiya served as a key financial facilitator for the operation. The investigation is part of a broader probe into the financial trails of organized crime networks and their alleged activities within the entertainment industry.

A special court in Mumbai, operating under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), has remanded Amar Mundiya to police custody until November 6. Mundiya is the 12th individual arrested by law enforcement in connection with the shooting incident on October 18, which involved gunfire directed at a vehicle belonging to actor Tiger Shroff outside a football ground in Juhu.

Investigation into Financial Networks

Investigators apprehended Mundiya in Sonipat, Haryana, based on allegations that he acted as a financial coordinator for the criminal operation. During the recent court hearing, prosecutors stated that custodial interrogation is critical to tracing the ultimate origin of funds used to support the network. Law enforcement officials are specifically analyzing digital financial transactions and money trails across various states, including Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan, to dismantle the financial infrastructure allegedly used by the network.

Defense and Judicial View

The defense counsel for the accused argued that the request for further physical custody was unnecessary, asserting that investigators already possessed sufficient evidence and that digital banking records could be processed without continued detention. However, Special Judge Pradhan overruled these objections, citing the severity of the charges under MCOCA—which were applied on October 27—and the necessity for continued custodial access to ensure a thorough investigation.

Sector and Security Context

The incident remains under intense scrutiny as it has been linked by authorities to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. While the primary target in the October 18 event sustained only minor injuries, the incident and the subsequent crackdown underscore rising security concerns for high-profile individuals in the entertainment sector. For the broader industry, such events often lead to increased pressure on production houses and agencies to strengthen security protocols and implement more rigorous financial transparency measures. As authorities continue to track additional suspects, including those currently at large, the focus remains on disrupting the organized crime structures that investigators claim have been infiltrating the entertainment business.
