Jindal Global Law School Opens 2027 Admissions via LNAT-UK

Jindal Global Law School has started early admissions for the 2027-28 academic year, reserving 50% of seats for early applicants. The LNAT-UK exam is the mandatory entrance test, with testing windows open from September 2026. This process prioritizes early candidates, and scholarships are available for high-scoring students with specific income criteria.

Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), part of O.P. Jindal Global University, has officially opened its early admission window for the 2027-28 academic session. The institution has set a policy where at least 50% of the total seats are reserved for those who apply during the initial phase. This move is part of the school's strategy to streamline its enrollment process, following a trend where a large majority of its class was filled by February in the previous year.

Mandatory LNAT-UK Entrance Requirement

For the upcoming academic year, the National Admission Test for Law (LNAT-UK) continues to be the exclusive entrance requirement for both the 5-year and 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) programs. JGLS maintains its position as the only Indian institution within the LNAT Consortium, which is based at the University of Oxford. Applicants must register for the LNAT-UK, with testing cycles split into two primary phases. The early cycle runs from September 1, 2026, to November 30, 2026, while the later cycle occurs between December 1, 2026, and February 28, 2027.

Strategic Advantage for Early Applicants

The university has emphasized the importance of applying early, noting that 90% of the 2026 class had secured their spots by late February. Taking the test in the first cycle offers students a potential advantage, including the flexibility of a retest if necessary. While a specific score of 25 or higher out of 42 is generally viewed as a strong performance, the admission process considers these results alongside other academic merits.

Financial Aid and Scholarship Criteria

JGLS provides merit-cum-means scholarships that cover between 10% and 50% of tuition costs. Eligibility for these financial aids depends on a combination of LNAT-UK performance and parental income. Specifically, students who achieve a score of 25 or higher and have a parental income under ₹50 lakhs are eligible to be considered for these scholarships.

Global Academic Standing

The institution maintains a prominent position in international rankings, having been placed 35th globally and 1st in India for Law & Legal Studies in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject. It also holds the top spot for law in India according to the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. These rankings are supported by a faculty base of over 500 members who hold degrees from international law schools.

Investors and stakeholders interested in the educational sector may track the university's enrollment trends and the competitive landscape for private legal education in India. The next critical update for applicants will be the commencement of LNAT-UK registrations in early August 2026, which will set the timeline for the upcoming academic cycle.
