Indo-MIM Jumps 10% on Q1 Profit; Paytm Sees Rs 2,949 Cr Block Deal

Indo-MIM shares surged 10% after posting a 31.6% rise in quarterly profit. Meanwhile, Paytm shares faced volatility following a large Rs 2,949 crore block deal involving 3% equity. Elsewhere, Highway Infrastructure secured an NHAI contract, and SPR Auto Technologies traded near 52-week highs following a QIP launch.

Indian markets witnessed stock-specific action on August 18, 2026, as investors reacted to a mix of quarterly earnings, significant institutional trades, and new order wins. While some companies saw sharp gains on strong financial performance, others dealt with the short-term pressure of large equity sales.

Indo-MIM Shares Rally on Profit Growth

Indo-MIM emerged as a major mover, with its stock price surging 10% to hit the upper circuit. This momentum followed the company’s first-quarter financial results for FY27, which showed a consolidated net profit of Rs 240.12 crore, a 31.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter also grew by 9.4% to Rs 1,218.74 crore. For investors, the focus remains on whether this margin expansion and revenue growth can be sustained in the coming quarters, as the current jump reflects improved operational efficiency.

Paytm Volatility After Large Block Deal

Paytm, or One 97 Communications, saw its share price decline slightly after a massive block deal took place in the morning session. Approximately 1.92 crore shares, representing about 3% of the company's total equity, changed hands in a transaction worth Rs 2,949 crore. The deal was executed at a price of Rs 1,535.10 per share. Such large-scale sales by institutional investors often create temporary supply pressure on the stock price. Investors typically track these events to see if the selling is part of a portfolio rebalancing by large funds or a broader shift in confidence.

Order Win for Highway Infrastructure

Highway Infrastructure saw its stock gain approximately 4% after the company announced it had received a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The contract, valued at Rs 80.17 crore, is for the operation and maintenance of the Palayam Fee Plaza in Tamil Nadu. The scope of this contract is for a 90-day period. While this adds to the company's short-term revenue, the key monitorable for shareholders will be the company’s ability to efficiently manage such short-term operational contracts without cost overruns.

SPR Auto Technologies and QIP Update

SPR Auto Technologies continued to trade near its 52-week high. The market reaction follows the company’s recent launch of a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) to raise capital. The company set a floor price of Rs 4,438.20 per share for this offering. A QIP allows companies to raise funds directly from qualified institutional buyers, such as mutual funds and insurance companies. While this infusion of cash can help support future expansion plans, it also increases the total number of shares, which can dilute the earnings per share for existing investors. The market will watch how the company deploys this new capital to drive future growth.
