Gujarat ATS Arrests Alleged Drug Kingpin Salim Dola

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad has formally arrested alleged drug kingpin Salim Dola in connection with a 2022 case involving the seizure of 87.728 kg of MD drugs valued at Rs 438.64 crore. Dola, who was deported from Turkey earlier this year, remains the subject of ongoing multi-agency investigations, including probes by the Enforcement Directorate into money laundering.

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has formally taken into custody alleged international drug kingpin Salim Dola. The arrest, executed on October 31, 2026, marks a significant progression in the ongoing investigation into a 2022 narcotics seizure in Vadodara, where authorities recovered 87.728 kg of Mephedrone (MD), commonly referred to as ecstasy, valued at Rs 438.64 crore.

Dola, who had been a target of international law enforcement, was deported from Turkey to India on April 28, 2026, under an international operation known as 'Operation Global-Hunt.' Following his return, investigative agencies consolidated evidence to connect his activities to the 2022 drug haul. Investigators allege that Dola served as a primary financier and orchestrator for a smuggling syndicate, managing an infrastructure that included the use of clandestine laboratories and logistics channels to distribute contraband.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is currently leading investigations into the financial trail left by these operations. These probes are specifically focused on money laundering, hawala transactions, and the use of dummy companies to conceal illegal assets and proceeds.

For investors and the general public, it is important to clarify that this legal development involves a private individual and his network of illicit entities. The case has no association with any listed company on the Indian stock exchanges, and these events do not have any impact on the broader equity markets.

The ongoing legal process will now involve detailed interrogation and court proceedings across the various criminal cases registered against him in different jurisdictions. The agencies aim to fully dismantle the transnational narcotics network by tracing the flow of funds and identifying other participants involved in these illegal activities.
