Instant PF Withdrawals via UPI

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to revolutionize member services with a new UPI-based system for provident fund withdrawals. This initiative promises to significantly cut processing times and simplify claims for its more than 70 million members across India. Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya confirmed successful testing of the UPI facility, which will let members transfer PF funds directly to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts using their UPI ID and PIN, bypassing traditional approval delays.

Expanded Digital Access and Support

Alongside the UPI integration, EPFO is boosting its digital services and customer support. Members will soon be able to check PF balances, review the last five transactions, and track claim status via WhatsApp by sending a 'Hello' message. This service will be available in multiple local languages, offering round-the-clock assistance, especially for those facing issues with Aadhaar authentication or direct benefit transfers.

Higher Auto-Settlement Limit and Fewer Cases

EPFO has also raised its auto-settlement limit for claims from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh. This means eligible claims for immediate needs like illness, education, or housing can be processed automatically and paid within three days, reducing manual work. The organization is also resolving disputes effectively, with pending consumer cases dropping from 4,936 in April 2024 to 2,646 by March 2026, focusing on older litigation to improve grievance redressal.
