The Delhi government has launched the Lakshmi Yojana portal for women to apply for ₹2,500 in monthly financial assistance. Eligible residents aged 21-60 with a family income below ₹2.5 lakh can register through the official website starting August 1.
The Delhi government has officially opened the application process for the Lakshmi Yojana, a welfare scheme providing ₹2,500 in monthly financial support to eligible women. Interested applicants can now visit the dedicated portal, dly.delhi.gov.in, to begin the registration process as of August 1, 2026.
Eligibility and Documentation Requirements
To qualify for this direct benefit transfer, applicants must meet several specific criteria. The scheme is open to women between the ages of 21 and 60 who have been residents of Delhi for at least 10 years. Additionally, the applicant's family must have an annual income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh. The government has also implemented specific exclusions to ensure the benefits reach the intended demographic. Individuals who pay income tax, those with more than three children, or individuals with a recorded criminal history are not eligible to participate.
For the application, residents will need to provide several key documents, including an Aadhaar card, a valid proof of residency, and an income certificate. Applicants are also required to provide bank account details, which will be used for the direct deposit of funds, and a mobile number that is linked to their Aadhaar card for authentication purposes.
Application and Verification Process
The registration process is conducted entirely online through the official portal. After registering with an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, applicants must submit personal and family details along with the required supporting documents. Once the form is submitted, the system generates an acknowledgement receipt, and users are given access to track the progress of their application through the same portal.
Following the submission, the government will initiate a verification process to confirm the eligibility of each applicant and the authenticity of the provided documents. Only those who successfully pass these checks will be enrolled in the scheme. While the portal is now active, the actual disbursement of funds is scheduled to commence for approved beneficiaries once the verification phase is completed. Investors and observers should note that such large-scale welfare initiatives involve significant fiscal outlays, which can influence state budgetary allocations and public spending priorities.
