Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the top state for AI and Big Data training under the central government's FutureSkills PRIME program. Andhra Pradesh has taken the top spot in India for training professionals in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics (BDA). Recent data shared by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) reveals that the state has successfully certified 1,08,895 candidates under the FutureSkills PRIME program over the past three years.
Out of 1,53,783 candidates who underwent training in AI and Big Data in the state, the high certification rate highlights a concentrated effort to align the local workforce with evolving technology demands. The FutureSkills PRIME initiative, a collaborative effort between MeitY and NASSCOM, is designed to reskill and upskill professionals in critical sectors such as AI, Cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Augmented Reality.
For investors and businesses, the availability of a large, certified talent pool is often a critical factor when deciding where to establish new centers or expand existing operations. Andhra Pradesh has been actively working to promote itself as an AI-driven economy, with announced plans to develop an 'AI City' in Amaravati and Centers of Excellence in Visakhapatnam. The national data under the FutureSkills PRIME program shows that 86 percent of participants across the country hail from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
