Authorities have suspended the movement of Amarnath Yatra pilgrim convoys from Jammu for July 19, 2026, due to adverse weather warnings. Pilgrims are advised to stay at designated accommodation centers until further notice to ensure their safety along the route.
The Jammu administration has officially paused the movement of all pilgrim convoys heading toward the Amarnath cave shrine for Sunday, July 19, 2026. This precautionary measure stops the departure of new batches from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, which serves as the primary base camp for pilgrims arriving in Jammu. The decision comes following weather advisories that predicted difficult conditions along the pilgrimage path, leading officials to prioritize the safety of the devotees.
Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar has directed pilgrims currently stationed in transit camps across Jammu, Udhampur, and Ramban to remain at their current locations. These travelers have been advised to wait for official updates before attempting to proceed toward the Baltal and Nunwan base camps in Kashmir.
This suspension follows the departure of the 17th batch of pilgrims, consisting of 3,632 devotees, who left the Bhagwati Nagar camp early on Saturday, July 18, under security escort. The annual 57-day pilgrimage has seen strong participation, with over 3.65 lakh devotees successfully visiting the holy cave shrine since the start of the event.
While the current interruption is a short-term operational adjustment due to safety protocols, travelers and logistics providers associated with the region's tourism and transport sector monitor these updates closely. The primary focus for the administration remains the management of pilgrim flow through the mountainous terrain, where weather-related delays are common during the monsoon period. The resumption of convoy movement will depend entirely on improvements in local weather conditions and clearance from safety officials in the coming days.
