AAIB Final Report on Ajit Pawar Plane Crash Due in January

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is set to release its final report regarding the January 28 Learjet 45 crash by next January. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the timeline for the investigation into the incident that claimed the life of then Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday that the final investigation report concerning the tragic aircraft accident involving then Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is expected to be submitted by January 2027. The incident, which took place on January 28, 2026, involved a Learjet 45 aircraft that crashed in the vicinity of Baramati airport.

Investigation into the Learjet 45 Incident

The probe is being conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), the nodal agency under the Ministry of Civil Aviation responsible for investigating serious aircraft incidents and accidents in India. The investigation is focused on determining the technical and operational factors that led to the crash. Beyond the loss of the Deputy Chief Minister, the accident resulted in the loss of four other lives on board.

For investors and the public, the report is critical as it will provide official clarity on whether the accident was caused by mechanical failure, human error, or adverse weather conditions. The findings of the AAIB often lead to updated safety protocols and maintenance directives for aviation operators across the country. The aviation sector in India is highly regulated, and the outcome of such investigations is closely monitored by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ensure air safety standards are maintained.

As the investigation process continues, all stakeholders are awaiting the final documentation to understand the full circumstances surrounding the operation of the private jet. The release of the report will be the next major milestone in this regulatory process, potentially offering closure and guiding future safety measures in private aviation.
