Judges Lead by Example in Fuel Conservation
Judicial officers in Lucknow are now cycling to work, with approximately 70 participating in a group ride to their offices. This initiative was spearheaded by Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan of the Allahabad High Court and directly responds to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fuel conservation.
Commitment to National Welfare
Justice Chauhan stated that the judges plan to cycle to court weekly. This action is intended to show solidarity and prioritize national interests, while also encouraging more people to adopt environmentally friendly ways to travel.
National Call for Prudence
The event in Lucknow supports national efforts for economic savings and conservation. Prime Minister Modi has urged citizens to reduce non-essential travel, use public transportation more, and opt for alternatives like cycling or electric vehicles for shorter trips. Cutting unnecessary expenses and exploring remote work options are also part of these recommendations.
Similar Efforts Seen Before
This is not the first time judicial officers have set an example for fuel saving. Earlier this month, Justice Dwarka Dhish Bansal of the Madhya Pradesh High Court was seen cycling to court in Jabalpur, showing a similar dedication to the cause.
